• Economy Convenience: Allows 30kg (66lb) for all destinations and the same two-piece allowance as Economy Classic for Africa or the Americas.
• Economy Comfort: Offers the highest allowance in Economy with 35kg (77lb) for all destinations and two pieces at 23kg (50lb) each for Africa or the Americas.

Regardless of the tier, all Economy passengers are permitted one piece of hand baggage weighing up to 7kg (15lb).

Business Class Baggage Allowance

Business Class on Qatar Airways comes with generous baggage allowances, ensuring that passengers can carry everything they need for their journey:

• All Business Class tiers (Lite, Classic, Comfort, Elite): 40kg (88lb) allowance for flights to/from all destinations. For flights to/from Africa or the Americas, passengers can check in two pieces, each weighing up to 32kg (70lb).

In addition to the checked baggage, Business Class passengers can bring two pieces of hand baggage with a combined weight of up to 15kg (33lb).

First Class Baggage Allowance

For those flying First Class, Qatar Airways offers the pinnacle of luxury and convenience:

• Maximum Dimensions and Weight: The maximum dimensions and weight for checked baggage vary depending on the route, but a single piece should not exceed 32kg (70lb).

2. Log In: Open the app and log in. If you’re a new user, you’ll need to register first by following the app’s registration process.
3. Go to Travel Ban Section: Once logged in, click on the upper right icon to open the services menu. Select “Travel Ban” from the list to proceed.
4. Check Your Status: The app will display your travel ban status on the next screen. If there are no bans against your ID, you’ll see a message saying, “No data found for this search”.

Travel Bank Check through the MOI Portal

Alternatively, you can also check if you have a travel ban in Qatar by visiting the Ministry of Interior (MOI) e-services portal. Once there, log in, select “General Services”, and then choose “Travel Ban”. This method allows you to view any travel ban circulars issued against you, providing another way to verify your travel status.

Why You Need a Local SIM

Upon landing at Doha International Airport, especially if you’re on a visit visa or visa-on-arrival or visa-free entry, one of the most essential items to secure is a local SIM card. This ensures you can communicate with ease throughout your stay.

Free WiFi First

Before you get your SIM card, know that you can access the airport’s free WiFi. Simply connect to the “HIAQatar” network available throughout the airport premises.

Where to Get Your SIM

After collecting your luggage and exiting the gate, look out for the Ooredoo Qatar outlet. Here’s where I purchased my SIM card. As per the Ooredoo website, the following are the locations within Doha Airport where you can acquire a visitor SIM:

• Qatar Duty-Free Store, located in the Baggage collection area.
• Ooredoo Kiosks at Exits 2, 3, and 4 in the Arrivals Hall.
• Day 2 Day Store in the Arrivals Hall.
• If you’re entering from the Abu Samra border, there’s an outlet there, too.

Documentation Needed

The process is quite straightforward. You’ll only need your passport. The staff will scan it and promptly return it to you.

Choosing a Package

There’s a range of plans on offer. When I was there, packages started at QAR 45 (USD 12.36). This particular plan gave you 2GB of data, 25 local minutes, and 15 international minutes, all valid for seven days. There are also longer duration plans, with 30 days of validity, and packages that offer more data and minutes.

Activation Process

In my experience, the salesperson was extremely helpful. They inserted the SIM card into my phone and handled the activation. Within moments, I received an SMS confirming the activation and providing my new Qatari mobile number.

A Note on Qatari Numbers

It might come as a surprise, but Qatari mobile numbers consist of only 8 digits, in contrast to the 10 digits that are standard in many other countries. Remember, the country code for Qatar is +974.

Thursdays enjoy extended hours till 1 am, and on Fridays, it functions between 2 pm and 1 am. Passengers can expect a train every six minutes, with the time between stations averaging three minutes.

Fare and Ticketing

Doha Metro offers two fare categories: Standard and Gold Club.

• Standard Class: A journey costs QR2, but there’s a daily ceiling of QR6, irrespective of the number of rides.
• Gold Club: This premium service is QR10 per ride, capped daily at QR30.

Both adult and child fares are consistent. While children above nine can travel solo, younger ones should be accompanied by someone aged 16 or above.
